One of the things I’ve always loved about Mexico is the tilework. Granted, until a few days ago I’ve never been down to see it firsthand but I’ve grown up seeing the wonderful tiles that have come home with family from their trips. I’ve wanted to spend some time studying the tilework and recreating it digitally for use in various graphic projects. I finished one of the first in the series last night.
Working in Illustrator last night reminded me of when I was learning it, I was sure I would never get the hang of it and worse yet, that I would never enjoy using it. While I hit some bumps and burbles along the way (I hadn’t used Illy in about 5 months), the whole thing came together quite nicely in the end.
