What can I say? 2011 has been an extremely full year for me so far, with ups and downs that have left me in varying states of speechlessness. Photographing this wonderful benefit which featured not one, but two runway shows with Andy South’s incredible fashions is definitely one of the high points. The Fashion for the Arts show was put on by the Lao Heritage Foundation in Seattle. All the funds raised went to promoting and teaching the traditional Lao arts and dance to a new generation. A worthy cause in my mind, culture and heritage is very important to hang onto. It’s important to learn all we can from our elders and be prepared to pass those lessons on to future generations.
I was thrilled to volunteer at this event, not only because it was a fantastic cause but also because I was thrilled for the opportunity to not only see Andy South’s fabulous clothes in person, but to photograph them as well. His line, South, will premier this Fall in Nieman Marcus and it is exceptional. The craftmanship is stunning and there were many pieces I’m hoping I can add to my wardrobe this fall!
